Cool fact: GILBERT was an independent mark (created about 1830) located at GIVET at the border France/Belgium (a factory was installed at HASTIERE in Belgium in 1935.
In 1838 the company is called GILBERT & Co
In 1921 GILBERT & Co becomes the "French Co of the feathers, penholders and pencils" (SERMAJOR)
In 1939 GILBERT amalgamates with BLANZY POURE (manufacturer of feather) the name is GILBERT BLANZY POURE
In 1960 CONTE is taken again by GILBERT-BLANZY POURE and becomes BLANZY-CONTE-GILBERT.
In 1980, BIC takes BLANZY-CONTE-GILBERT and the social name is: CONTE s.a.... Now, on the pencils, the name of BIC
