The older pencil on the bottom has a much larger diameter. This was commonin order to house the larger diameter thick dark lead of the 6B drawing pencils for many pencil companies.
Founded by the Weissenborn family in 1889 and renamed General Pencil Co. in 1923. The company is today headquartered in Redwood City, CA. Learn more at the General Pencil Company website.
