Corgié was established in 1923, producing pencils at its factory in Roanne, France. In 1986, as the company was coming to a close, three of Corgié's employees were hired by la Compagnie Française des Crayons (known as CFC, which is translated into English as the French Pencils Company). CFC’s factory is located just 20 kilometers away in the town of Lay. They are the last and only manufacturer of wood pencils in France today.
