Hard to find 100 year old Hammer here! The pegasus symbol is striking! Sadly the original box is quite boring and does not have the A. Hammer labeling. Another reason for me to believe it is an early Hammer.

A. Hammer Pencil Company was founded in the U.S.S.R. in 1926, and is named after the American industrialist Armand Hammer, aka the "red millionaire" as he was known in the west. A few years later, around 1930, Hammer was bought out by the Soviets and the company was renamed Sacco & Vanzetti Pencil Factory.
