Brand: Johann Faber
Made in: Brazil
Etched into the barrel is the word Brasil which indicateds to me that this pencil was made In Brazil. Escolar means “made for school” in Portuguese.
Johann Faber was one of three brothers who at one point worked for the Stein, Germany-based family business known as A.W. Faber Pencil Company in the second half of the 19th century. (Johann’s younger brother, Eberhard Faber, opened the first American pencil factory.) Johann left to start his own pencil business in Nuremberg in 1879. However, his company ended up merging with A.W. Faber during the global economic crisis of the late 1920s.
