Brand: Caran d’Ache
Made in: Switzerland
With blocks of warm brown arranged like a mosaic, the American Cedar is a wood of great refinement. It has a delicate subtle appeal that contrasts with the power of the raw material. This one has the older, pre-2015 logo.
Based in Switzerland, Caran d’Ache has been producing fine writing instruments in Geneva workshops since 1915. The company began as Fabrique Genevoise de Crayons and changed its name to Caran d’Ache in 1924. The name is based on “karandash” — Russian for pencil. The company updated its logo in 2015 to mark its 100th anniversary. For an in-depth analysis about its logo design evolution, click here.
