Most Semi-Hex 498 models have a ferrule. This is one of my favorite painted end designs.
Founded by Oscar Weissenborn in 1889 as the Pencil Exchange, it was renamed General Pencil Company in 1923. The family-owned enterprise continues to manufacture pencils today from their factory in Jersey City, New Jersey. Learn more at General Pencil Company website.
