August 2020: The 22nd release in Blackwing’s Volumes series, the Blackwing XIX is Palomino’s tribute to the 19th Amendment and the ongoing fight for voting rights in the world. It features a purple barrel and three-sided white and yellow imprint inspired by the suffrage flag, striped silver ferrule, and purple eraser. The firm graphite is perfect for writing a letter to your Representatives, or practicing for your mail-in ballot.
Palomino Brands was at one time a division of California Cedar Products Company, which produces CalCedar® and other types of wood slats for pencil manufacturers around the world. California Republic Stationer pencils were first produced beginning in 2003, and in 2012 the company began a transition to Palomino Brands for all new production.
Today, the company no longer uses the Palomino brand name, and instead has put all of its chips on Black(wing). Every three months a new Blackwing Volumes limited edition pencil is introduced, which are made at an undisclosed location in Japan using California cedar and Japanese graphite cores.
