All the appearances of an early English brand, this pencil hails from London.    The reverse is branded William Langdon who (d. 1829).  After some discussion the pencil is marked "prepared" which was a technique used by B&L as well as Dobbs.  However, later William Brockedon patented a "prepared" method in 1843 which was soon adopted by all others.  It is likely this pencil was made by William Langdon's son in the 1830's.
