The unique Caran d’Ache + Klein Blue® collection reveals Art in its purest form. Caran d’Ache pays tribute to one of the most astonishing artists of his generation: Yves Klein. World-famous for his monochromes, Klein grabbed hold of the color blue and its extremely saturated ultramarine shade, “the most perfect expression of blue”. Linked by a fascination for color and passion for pure and powerful pigments, Caran d’Ache and Yves Klein revisited seven iconic products by the brand giving rise to a limited edition series celebrating the beauty and power of the infinite ultramarine blue.
Based in Switzerland, Caran d’Ache has been producing fine writing instruments in Geneva workshops since 1915. The company began as Fabrique Genevoise de Crayons and changed its name to Caran d’Ache in 1924. The name is based on “karandash” — Russian for pencil. The company updated its logo in 2015 to mark its 100th anniversary. For an in-depth analysis about its logo design evolution, click here.
