Brand: J.S. Staedtler
Made in: Great Britain
Picked up some of these from a gentleman in the UK selling from a closed out years ago engineers shop circa late 1970's. These Gt. Britain marked Lumo 100's have the term Jet Bonded printed on the reverse of the pencils. Read they started doing this in about 1972 ....not sure for how long. I think this is the first generation of the UK Lumograph or very close. On the reverse of the box it says Made in Great Britain by Staedtler (UK) Limited Pontyclun. Staedtler bought the Pencil Factory in Pontyclun in 1975. NOTE: The top Gt. Britain made pencil is available for purchase here.
Long before J.S. Staedtler founded his pencil making factory within Nuremberg’s old city walls back in 1835, the STAEDTLER family had been hand-making this well-loved writing instrument for generations already. In fact, the roots can be traced back to 1662, the year in which first references to Friedrich Staedtler as a pencil-making craftsman were made in the city annals.
