I've had this pencil for at least 10 years now, however it is still being made today and I believe it looks the same.
Founded by Oscar Weissenborn in 1889 as the Pencil Exchange, it was renamed General Pencil Company in 1923. The family-owned enterprise continues to manufacture pencils today from their factory in Jersey City, New Jersey. Learn more at General Pencil Company website.
