This pencil has the tell tale mark of a pre 1900's pencil with the square lead. Square lead confirmed after removing the bone or ivory topper you can clearly see the square lead.

Two possibilities:

Looks to be a stationery company on 31 Hawley Street, Boston, Mass. in the late 1800's. (searched this probably a decade ago or so now)

G.W. Gould & Co. likely refers to a historical company, possibly a financial or mercantile firm from the 19th century. (2026 search using AI)

I call these “Quazi” brands because I’m not 100% certain which company actually made them. Sometimes the pencils are stamped with a stationery store or maybe even the name of someone famous. But my hunch is they were produced by another company. If you have more information about any of these vintage pencils I would love to know!
