These are absolutely stunning in hand. A mixture from natural to rosey colors in the wood. They are some kind of a graphite and charcoal mix; therefore I've labeled them under the art category. A lot like some of those Conte A Paris pencils Clearly meant for artists consumption.

Based in Switzerland, Caran d’Ache has been producing fine writing instruments in Geneva workshops since 1915. The company began as Fabrique Genevoise de Crayons and changed its name to Caran d’Ache in 1924. The name is based on “karandash” — Russian for pencil.
